His Excellency, Magzhan Ilyassov - Kazakhstan Ambassador to the United States

His Excellency, Magzhan Ilayssov is the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United States, appointed in 2025.

His diplomatic career began in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996, followed by service in the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan (2007–2016), where he was appointed as Advisor to the President. Between 2016-2020 he served as Ambassador to the Netherlands and Permanent Representative to the OPCW, and from 2020-2022 as Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Most recently, he served as Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom from 2022 to 2025. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Kazakh State University of World Languages and International Relations and a Master’s in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
